Screenings of the film “Transgeneration” followed by Q&A

“Transgender in the Workplace: A Survivor’s Perspective”

Guest Speaker, Donna Rose

A nationally respected writer, speaker and advocate on transgender issues, Donna provided a workshop/training session on workplace issues from both the business perspective and from the employee perspective.

 

“Transgender Victories and Challenges”

Guest Speaker, Mara Keisling

A nationally recognized political speaker and advocate on transgender issues, Mara is the Executive Director for the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) in Washington, DC.  Mara provided a workshop/training session on transgender political issues, including the national political landscape and how that is affecting the fight for transgender equality.

 

“Building Trans Communities: A day with Jamison Green”

Guest Speaker, Jamison Green

Author, educator, and internationally-respected transgender activist Jamison Green led several sessions focusing on developing and empowering transgender communities. Jamison read from his prize-winning book, "Becoming a Visible Man," which was followed by discussion/Q&A.  

 

National Day of Remembrance Candlelight Vigil

A candlelight vigil honoring transgender individuals who have passed on. Respected local Reverend Sean Parker Dennison provided spiritually enlightening sentiments.

 

TEA Party

A reception and a brief awards ceremony by TEA to recognize the local individual and organization most instrumental in assisting the transgender community and TEA for the year of 2006.  Award recipients for 2006 were Dr. Nicola Riley for individual and the Utah Pride Center for organization. Live music was provided throughout by the phenomenal Seattle band “Coyote Grace”.
