TEA of Utah
is a Non-Profit Organization that was established in 2003. We were the first organization of our kind to provide strictly
education and advocacy for transgender Utahns. We are not paid staff; in fact we rely heavily on your generous donations so
that we can continue to provide a level of high quality education to the community.
The educational programs we offer have been
utilized by most of Utah’s colleges and universities,
as well as a Masters’ Counseling Program. Our educational efforts have included parents of transgender youth, local
law enforcement agencies, elected officials, medical and mental health professionals, human resource personnel and businesses
both in and out of the GLBT Community.
As advocates, to assist in the protection
of rights, we have helped countless individuals obtain the proper documentation and have eased the process of certain document
changes (ie; driver license, social security, name change court documents, passport issues, etc.).
We are not lawyers, nor are we formally schooled
in Utah law and therefore cannot provide legal counsel; however we can assist you in finding appropriate legal counsel if
need be.
We also provide quality educational programming
throughout the month of November for Transgender Awareness month, by bringing national and internationally recognized keynote
speakers to address crucial topics that impact the transgender population.
TEA of Utah
has a monthly column in The Pillar where we can share experiences, ideas, tips or simply keep you informed of transgender
issues in the news.
Additionally, once each quarter we provide
a relevant film screening followed by Q&A. Popcorn is always a hit and the discussions get lively.
